Struggling with these symptoms---> Book an ME/CFS assessment today and take the first step toward understanding your health.

The Perrin Technique is a manual system of diagnosis and treatment that has helped many hundreds of patients with CFS/ME since 1989.

The Perrin Technique was developed as a result of a chance discovery by Dr Raymond Perrin.

Dr Perrin believes the link to CFS/ME & fibromyalgia arises from a problem with the drainage system with the Brain and Spinal cord. This may clinically appear from a prior defect to the skull, usually in the frontal/nasal region due to either congenital/ hereditary or traumatic aetiology.

Raymond Perrin's research at the University of Salford in conjunction with the University of Manchester, coupled with hundreds of successful clinical case studies and the latest findings in neurophysiology, has provided strong evidence that CFS/ME involves a disturbance of the drainage of toxins from the brain and the muscles. These poisons often enter the body in the form of viruses, bacteria and other microbes, parasitic infection or due to environmental toxins such as pesticides.

However, many toxins are simply an overproduction of chemicals naturally produced within the body to help the immune system with fighting infections, inflammation and stress. Constant physical and emotional stress can lead to this type of overproduction. The excess of some toxins in the brain and spinal cord should drain out of lymph vessels and be broken down by the body's lymphatic system and liver. CFS/ME patients have a reversed drainage that leads to toxins building up in the central nervous system causing the dysfunction of different parts of the brain and spinal cord. This explains the many different symptoms complained by CFS/ME patients.

The results of the initial research can be found in the following Peer reviews paper.

Recent findings suggest that the Perrin Technique may help reduce fatigue symptoms related to Long Covid patients. Perhaps preventing acute symptoms through early interventions.

You will have a comprehensive consultation with Khush Mandaviya  will  last a total of 90 minutes.

During the consultation, we will discuss the treatment, do a detailed medical history, a questionnaire will be completed, examination of your spine, abdomen, head and lymphatics of the thorax which includes to breast tissue (a chaperone should attend the initial consultation).

In the case of a diagnosis, you will be given a perrin score out of 10, with 10/10 being perfectly heathy.

Dr Perrin‘s method is an advanced massage & osteopathic technique using gentle articulations, manipulation, massage and cranial techniques to guide the toxins out of the central nervous system into the lymphatic system, also referred to as "neuro- lymphatic drainage" or "the glymphatic system". Simply since it has been shown to drain toxins from the cells known as the "glia" of the brain to the lymphatics.

Khush Mandaviya has been personally trained by Dr Raymond Perrin at his clinic based in Manchester, and works alongside him & well known, advanced Perrin Practitioner, Rakhee Mediratta at the London Clinics.

FAQs - Common The Perrin Technique questions

1. What is The Perrin Technique?

The Perrin Technique is a manual therapy developed by osteopath Dr Raymond Perrin, designed to help people with chronic conditions such as ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, long COVID, and chronic fatigue. It focuses on improving the drainage of toxins from the brain and spinal cord via the lymphatic system, addressing underlying dysfunctions in the autonomic nervous system.

2. How does The Perrin Technique work?

It uses a specific combination of osteopathic techniques, specialised cranial and neuro-lymphatic techniques, manual lymphatic drainage, and spinal mobilisation to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage better cerebrospinal fluid flow. This supports detoxification of the central nervous system and helps to rebalance the body’s stress response.

3. What conditions can The Perrin Technique help with?

The technique is most commonly used to support people with:

  • ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Post-viral fatigue

  • Long COVID

  • Chronic headaches or brain fog

  • Lymphatic congestion affecting energy or concentration

4. Does it hurt?

No. The Perrin Technique uses gentle and non-invasive manual techniques. Clients often report feeling relaxed or sleepy during and after the session, as it engages the parasympathetic (rest and repair) nervous system.

5. How long is a session?

A typical session lasts 30 minutes. Initial consultations may take longer as they include a full case history, posture assessment, and diagnostic testing.

6. How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the severity and duration of your condition. Many clients start to notice changes within a few weeks, but chronic issues often require ongoing support over several months. Your practitioner will discuss a personalised treatment plan based on your presentation.

7. Are there any side effects?

As the lymphatic system begins to clear the toxins, patients may experience worsening in symptoms of fatigue, nausea or rashes. How a patient responds would depend on the level of toxic build up in the cellular tissue. Some people may feel a temporary increase in fatigue, headaches, or flu-like symptoms as the body begins to clear toxins more efficiently. These are usually short-lived. Staying hydrated and resting after treatment can help.

8. Can The Perrin Technique be used alongside other treatments?

This depends on the chronicity and severity of your condition. While some notice subtle improvements early on, recovery is usually gradual and may take several months. Consistency is key. Your practitioner will tailor the frequency and duration of sessions to suit your body’s response. It can complement medical care or other therapies. However, your practitioner will review any treatments or medications you’re currently on to ensure they align with the protocol.

9. Who shouldn't have The Perrin Technique?

It is not suitable for individuals with:

  • Active infection

  • Unstable cardiac conditions

A full health history is taken before treatment begins to assess suitability.

10. How do I prepare for a session?

Arrive well-hydrated and in comfortable clothing. You may want to bring any medical history or test results relevant to your condition. It’s also advised to rest for a short while after the session to allow your body time to adjust.

11. What happens during my first appointment?

Your first session will include a detailed health consultation, postural and spinal assessment, and specific Perrin diagnostic tests. Based on your findings, your practitioner will explain your treatment plan and begin with a gentle introduction to the technique. You’ll be guided through each step and given self-care advice to support your recovery between sessions.
